THAT is the definition of boycott, DUH, so just not buying 1 thing they sell isn't boycotting, stop playing or buying anything and you will actually live up to the definition. Anet has answered the players who whined they were holding onto too much stuff and are now giving a bonus to the majority of the players who don't necessarily need the extra space. I see no problem here but a company listening to it's player base.

Wait until Anet releases FULL, official, detailed information about what is being added, and HOW it is being added before complaining. Even if they charge for EVERYTHING they add, none of it is required to buy, so wait to see what advantages this 'new' stuff provides before complaining about having to buy it.

ArenaNet is adding a feature, which has been asked for for a while, it's their choice what they price it, just like it's your choice to buy it (or not). I might not buy the upgrades (right away, could in the future), but it's a good addition.

How about "if I think it's too expensive I'm not buying it." Which is what everyone is doing anyway. What's the point of a protest?

Boycotts are targeted at companies for other reasons... like "well the price is reasonable but they eat babies, so I am going to buy from another company and tell everyone else to do the same." Because not buying something just because it's too expensive is common sense and how the market works anyway.

I can't believe people are complaining before its even released. Since we are getting FREE extra storage for weapons and armor I can't figure out what people could be storing that 4 tabs + character storage wouldn't cover? Thats the 4 tabs people have if you own all chapters + the material storage.

Frankly I think all you're paying for is the convenience of not having to switch between characters, which to me is worth another $5 on top of what I would be willing to pay for the tab itself. Basically I'm saying yes it's overpriced, but it's worth it.

And frankly, as others have said, Arenanet didn't have to add this, just like they didn't have to give us 3 extra tabs and 1 materials tab for free originally.

Yes they will make money from people that want to by more storage tabs but you don't need them to play the game and last time i checked, Anet was a business.

Listen; YOU HAVE THE OPTION NOW. They are a business and as there is no monthly fee they have found a way to make money so you can CHOOSE to get more storage or not, thats up to you.

I'm heartwarmed after reading the comments in this thread. After first seeing about the update on the main site I was happy ANET had released something and was willing to pay the 10$, even if just to help them out.
Then after reading the wiki comments page and posts from people like King swift here, I seriously raged.

But a lot of people are /notsigning. Its good some of us have got some sense.....

Something else to add that I forgot to mention in my earlier post:

Companies will release a product at the highest price possible upon release. Purely to recoup development cost and whatnot since they will know the die hard contingent of Guild Wars will be buying, at the bare minimum, one extra slot.

After a period of time, they will probably look at it again and lower the price. Just like all 4 versions of this game have been lowered.

I'm going to chime in, although some of my points may have been made by others...

It looks like I will be somewhat satisfied by the update. An extra tab is nice, and equipment packs = win.

As for the $9.99 for a tab, well, there are two things that effect this

1) A character slot is $9.99. You get 45 slots (not including heroes and such) plus the ability to farm for minis. Twice as much space, but slightly less convenient, although not so much more so.

2) A new account runs around $10 or so (I bought a few a while back). Much less convenient, but you get 45x4 slots, 40 chest panes, extra material storage, 4 more mini farmers, and extra ZKey accounts. Even if they decide that GWx2 is unacceptable, no problem; I got three computers on my desk.

Both of these scenarios do not take into account the upgrades to storage on them. Both character slots and mule accounts will become more efficient with the upgrade. The only advantage to the Xunlai chest being bigger is not having to swap characters or fire up mules as often.

My point; I think ANet simply missed the price point on this. $2.99, or even $4.99 might be a better price for this (if it was $2.99 a piece, or $9.99 for all of them, I would buy for all my accounts right now), and balance out the storage capacity vs. convenience equation. Maybe they'll change it, maybe they won't. I will hop on the free slot and see how it goes, and maybe buy one in the future, but I won't be rushing to spend $9.99 right away. I got mules for that. Until the money equation works better for me, that is how I see it.

So, /unsigned, not because I think they did it completely right, but because I think that supply and demand will bring the price into equilibrium if people play this one smart.

Now might be a good time to pick up a couple of extra accounts and take advantage of the free slot

Yes but we have a legit reason because when we are playing a game with broken or overpowered skills it ruins our gameplay. In PvE you can go anywhere and be happy slaying shit with cryway.

I appreciate the opportunity to obtain more storage for a fee, but with the added equipment packs(FREE storage upgrade is here, folks), I can't possibly think why I'd need more space.

Also wrong. There have been many people saying that they don't really need or care about extra storage.

And on top of that, they are giving us some extra for FREE anyway.

Really, "it should be free because people want it" is the stupidest reason ever. Going by that, everything should be free. I shouldn't have had to pay for my new laptop, because I desperately wanted it. We shouldn't have had to pay for GW originally, because we all wanted it. And so on.

Reality doesn't work that way. No one's making you buy it.
